Privacy Policy

The short version

We don't ask who you are. There are no accounts and no profiles. While Random Chat is in its trial period, chats and photos are kept for 7 days so we can act on reports and remove people who break the rules; after that they are deleted automatically.

Messages, photos and voice notes

• Everything you send goes through our server to the person you're chatting with.
• During the trial period, text messages and a copy of each photo are stored on our server for 7 days and then deleted automatically. Voice notes are never stored.
• Stored chats and photos are only looked at by the site operator, to review reports and keep the service safe. They are never shared, sold or used for advertising.
• Before a photo leaves your device, it is redrawn and resized in your browser. This removes hidden information such as the location where the photo was taken.
• Keep in mind that the other person can always take a screenshot or record their screen. Don't send anything you wouldn't want to be seen elsewhere.

Automatic message checks

Text messages are also checked automatically by software to block phone numbers, email addresses, links and words that break our rules.

Reports and bans

When you report someone, the chat ends and you won't be matched with that person again. Reported chats are reviewed first. People who break the rules can be blocked from the service by their network address or device for a period of time.

Technical data

Like any website, our servers see your IP address and the time of your connection. We may keep these connection records for the period required by law, and use them to stop abuse. We don't sell them or use them for advertising.

Cookies and storage

We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. Your browser stores only your own settings (for example, whether photos are on) and a random ID on your device. The random ID doesn't identify you; it is used only to apply a temporary safety block to this browser if our child-safety rules are triggered.

Age

Random Chat is only for people who are 18 or older.
