Questions & Answers

Random Chat connects you with a random person from anywhere in the world for a one-on-one text chat. There are no profiles, no accounts and no sign-up: just pick a nickname. Say hi, share a photo or send a quick voice note, and when you're ready, tap Next to meet someone new.

Your conversations are private: no one else is in the chat, and photos are cleaned of hidden location data before they leave your phone. See the privacy page for what is kept during the trial period.

Is Random Chat free?

Yes. Random Chat is completely free and you don't need an account.

Are my messages saved?

During the trial period, messages and photos are kept for 7 days so we can review reports, then deleted automatically. Voice notes are never stored. Nothing is shared or sold.

Can I turn off photos?

Yes. Switch off photos before or during a chat. You won't receive any photos and you won't be able to send any. Photos you receive arrive blurred, so you decide whether to look.

Can people save my photos?

Photos can't be downloaded or saved from Random Chat: they open in a protected viewer, and they're hidden when the other person switches to another app or starts a screenshot tool. But no website can fully stop someone from taking a screenshot or photographing their screen with another device. Only send photos you're comfortable with.

Why can't I share my phone number or email?

To protect you from scams and unwanted contact, phone numbers, email addresses, links and other app accounts are blocked in chat.

Who can use Random Chat?

Random Chat is only for people who are 18 or older.
