About RandomHi: Who Runs It and How It Is Moderated

RandomHi is a free random chat for people aged 18 and over: one conversation at a time with one random stranger, using text, photos and short voice notes. This page explains who runs it, how it is moderated and what it cannot promise.

Who runs RandomHi

RandomHi is made and run by one person: an independent developer living in Turkey. There is no company behind it and no team. It is a hobby project, built in spare time.

The site is free. There are no ads, no paid tiers and nothing to buy. You do not need an account, a profile or an email address. You pick a nickname, confirm you are 18 or older, and start.

What it is for

RandomHi is for a quick, anonymous talk with someone you do not know. It is text first, with photos and voice notes when you want them, and it has no video. It works in the browser on a phone or a computer, so there is nothing to install.

If you are looking for something similar after Omegle shut down in November 2023, note that RandomHi has no connection to it; the Omegle alternative page covers what is and is not on offer. For a step-by-step look at a chat, see how it works.

How moderation works

A one-person site cannot run a moderation team, so RandomHi relies on three things working together.

Automatic filters

Filters run before a message is delivered. They stop contact details such as phone numbers and email addresses, links, usernames for other apps, and requests for money or gift cards. They also block identity-based slurs and threats of violence. Child safety rules are the strictest part: breaking them ends the chat on the spot, and the device is kept from matching for a while. The safety page has the full list.

Your reports

Every chat has a Report button. Tapping it ends the conversation at once, and you will not be paired with that person again. Reported chats are reviewed by the site operator, which on RandomHi means the developer. Please use it whenever something feels wrong.

Blocking

Rule breakers can be blocked, either by network address or by device. The rules are in the terms.

Honest limits

It is only fair to say clearly what RandomHi cannot promise.

Practical tips, including what to do if a photo of you is shared without your consent, are on the safety page.

Privacy, briefly

RandomHi asks for very little: a nickname and how you want to appear. No email, no phone number, no profile. Photos are redrawn and resized in your browser before they are sent, which removes hidden details such as location data. The privacy policy explains the rest.

Questions and problems

To flag a problem during a chat, use the Report button. The FAQ covers the most common questions. When you are ready to meet someone new, go back to the home page and start a chat.
